Mosaic CCDA’s Career Pathway Institute Collaborates with Berrien County Jail to Offer Certified Work

Mosaic CCDA’s Career Pathway Institute (CPI), in a groundbreaking partnership with BCJ, has launched a certified workforce development program tailored for Berrien County Jail inmates sentenced to less than a year.

This program not only offers comprehensive workforce training but ensures that upon completion, participants graduate with a certification, enhancing their employability and prospects for a sustainable future outside jail walls.

Incorporating a broad spectrum from trades programs to holistic workforce development, CPI’s initiative caters to both youth and adult inmates. The central ethos driving this program is the simple yet profound question, "How can we help?" Through its structured curriculum, inmates experience significant shifts in perspective, confronting deep-seated issues like childhood trauma, anger, and feelings of marginalization.

Pastor Andre Palmer, the Lead Facilitator, commented, "Our mission is to create a space of transparency and healing. Many inmates, despite their circumstances, express hope for a better future, showcasing their resilience and desire for change."

Beyond mental and emotional rehabilitation, CPI’s certified program offers a comprehensive suite of wrap-around services, resources, and vocational discussions. A powerful testament to its impact is the story of a young lady who sought out Mosaic CCDA a day after her release.

These inmates, in committing to the program, demonstrate a commendable internal resolve. They are encouraged to be forthright, introspective, and to seize this opportunity for positive change. An inmate's recent reference to "A Purpose Driven Life" signals the transformative shifts taking place within.

Upon successful completion, not only will inmates have a nationally recognized certification, but they will also receive assistance from Mosaic CCDA in finding suitable employment opportunities, giving them a tangible advantage in their reentry to society.

The program, offered in 5-week cycles, is open to inmates who have undergone their hearing and received their sentence.

Career Pathway Institute and Mosaic CCDA's collaboration is a beacon of hope, skillfully merging rehabilitation with certified vocational training, crafting a brighter, certified future for participants.
